Callihan`s American Pub & Grill in Ashland

Food is okay (very bar-food like selection) service was very good. The environment is very lacking, though. This is one of the few places that still permits smoking. If you’re not a smoker, you still leave smelling like smoke. The live music can be quite loud. I’m sure that’s fine in the bar area, but if you’re here with a group of people as we were, it’s extremely difficult to hear each other as the music overpowers the whole place. While the food is okay and the service was very good, I wouldn’t return due to the cigarette smoke and overpowering music.

Great specials everyday, but the chicken salad croissant is to die for..

Went in this evening at 5:30, to have a quick bite before the 6:35 movie. We ordered a small pizza and a bowl of French onion soup. After placing the order, we waited 20 minutes. We noticed other people seated after us getting full dinners, so asked about the status of our order. We were assured the order would be there within 7 minutes. After waiting until 6:15, we asked to speak to the manager. She told us that when we got back from the movie, to ask for her, Andrea, and the food would be free. When we returned, she disappeared, and the hostess told us we would have to find her, ourselves. Needless to say, we never got any food.

Great food and drinks. The waitress and bar tender are fun and offer the best of choices.

The atmosphere is casual and easy. Food is very good and done well. Hostess was bright and cheerful. Both smoking and non smoking section. Music fitting but not overly loud. Both young, old and family. Our server wasn't rude but lacked enthusiasm for the job even though I left a nice tip. Only bad thing I can say about it. Maybe better next time because I will return.

Update: The food was horrible when they first opened but has gotten better. Service is still a little slow however.

We go there often. It is a good place to get a steak or a burger! Great twice baked potatoes and we really like their soft pretzel appetizer too!

Melissa gave GREAT service. She’s funny, sweet and knows what she’s talking about. She talked us into getting the ribs, and that was the best decision we made this week. She wasn’t lying when she said they fall off the bone. I’ll definitely be back for seconds.

Updated: tried for round 2 and I have to update and say the Reuben is amazing and the service was excellent.I travel frequently and eat out every night. I tried one night and the food was ok and fairly priced. The service was lacking. It took about 10 minutes each time to order a drink and another 10 minutes to order food while sitting at the bar. The onion soup was good. I had chicken fingers tossed in sauce. The strips were not that good. Great news is the service is friendly and it is a smoke friendly place.

Great food, great service, every time

While most locals will eat here for the honey mustard, the other menu items are just as delicious. Keep in mind they have live music on most weekends and it can get pretty loud, so plan accordingly.

Decent food. A bit overpriced. But any night they have live music makes the trip worth it.

Great service, lunch specials and offer smoking now. This has become a favorite place of mine and my families. Comfortable atmosphere and good food. American Dip and New Chips and Queso....chips are seasoned with some kind of seasonal salt...worth the $5 for a quick appetizer.

This is a very nice place. The food is really good. Lots of stuff on the menu to pick from. Our waitress did an excellent job, got everything right on the order and was a delight to have as a waitress

The baked potato and steamed broccoli came out cold and when I asked to talk to a manager he said he was the one that brought it out and he knows it was hot. He wouldn’t even come talk to us. Lesson learned. Had to pay full price and take my dinner home to microwave it.

Extremely Good! The waitress was very nice. Our member of your group was having problems with being sick. The waitress felt so bad and very sympathetic for him. Sauces were good and will defiantly be returning SOON

I travelled from Charleston, WV to meet some friends for a birthday celebration. The food was awesome and the band was great! I’m a pizza connoisseur and was reluctant to try the pizza but I am sure glad I did. I had the deep dish pizza and though it’s not a traditional deep dish pizza the crust was nice and crispy and the toppings were generous. My daughter had the strip steak and it was very tender and flavorful. We also had the fried pickle chips and they were equally delicious. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our drinks full. I’ll definitely be back!

The blackened chicken dinner was bland and the broccoli was warm but hard not steamed long enough. Burger king serves better burgers. Overall just awful wish we would have stayed home. Place looked filthy.

Stopped in for Father's day, didn't have to wait terribly long. Server was awesome, always checking in on us and our drinks never went empty. Ordered the prime rib which was ok, looked a tad on the old side but it wasn't too bad. The sweet potato fries are awesome and everything else that was ordered looked amazing. I've heard their burgers and their chicken are the best things on the menu and those in the group who ordered those items were pleased. Steak wasn't terrible but not the best in the area by any means. Service however was top notch. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would go back.

Travel to the area for work frequently and always have a great experience...dinner this week was awesome and the pumpkin pie is amazing!!!
